“Bharatnatyam” is one of the most popular classical and traditional dances of India.  This dance has a rich history of dating back 2000 years.  It is inspired from the sculptures of the ancient temples of Chidambaram (Southern India).

The origin of Bharartnatyam is in Thanjavoor of Tamilnadu (Southern Indian state).  Bharatnatyam is a dance form which makes use of the combination of Bhava (Emotion), Raaga (Music or Melody), Tala (Rhythm) and Natyam (Dance).

Ketaki Ghanekar started Nritya Natyam in 2012 to pass her knowledge and skills in Bharatnatyam to the next generation.  She has been teaching Bharatnatyam (Kalakshetra Style) for over 15 years.

"The importance of Bharatnatyam in my life is just undefinable.  Learning Bharatnatyam under my mentor, Guru Mrs. Vidya Subramaniam (Patel) has taught me to be respectful, grateful, graceful, confident and many more things. Bharaynatyam is not just about learning this ancient practice.  It teaches you to appreciate things that you have in life."
